Our Story
“Either the circus is in town, or it’s NOT!” —Elaine Stritch, February 2014
The circus is officially in town.
StritchCon is an annual celebration of Broadway legend Elaine Stritch. Taking place in New York City and marked by adorants wearing Stritch’s iconic white button-down shirt with black tights, the event is a short memorial walk through a small handful of the performer’s favorite spots.
Founded in January 2021, StritchCon began as an antidote to pandemic-induced malaise, though it quickly morphed into an excuse to participate in relaxation and communal silliness. It’s important to stop and breathe. After all, it bears keeping in mind what a prostitute once said, “It’s not the work. It’s the stairs.”
